Fun is to put all sorts of interesting veggies on the check out counter at the grocery store and watch the kid at the cash register play "guess the vegetable"!! The few who "get it" first time are usually the children of gardeners and/or vegetarians! (I know, 'cause I'm snoopy and ask!)

If we buy the one chicken/thirteen magical eggs story, just think what we could think about an ARTICHOKE!

Ya, when I tell people I don't actually want the chickens for eating them...just for the eggs, they almost always come back with "well you better get a rooster".

Even my sister said this...and she's a doctor.

Not to try to highjack but on the lines of WHAT?? I was in line at the grocery store and the checkout girl (probably early 20's) asked if I found everything I needed and I said no actually I couldn't find the shortening. And she said I don't know what that is. My 14 year old dd tried to explain, "you know like lard, you bake with it". All we got was the trout look. My 22 year old ds knows what it is! Don't even get me started on the nurse practioner who asked if my b/g twins were identical. It also just kills me when you try to explain something like the eggs without a rooster and people will argue with you because they "know" how it works and your an idiot even though you raise them.

I usually get them to shut up (if they're annoying) by saying well you know how human women produce an egg every month.....same concept.

She said "a" chicken laid 13 eggs, NOT 13 chickens laid an egg.
