Ok, I caught the culprit in the act- it's an Orpington! That sneaky Barred Rock had me fooled. I'm especially proud because they free-range during daylight hours and she went back to the nest boxes and laid it there rather than on the ground. Good chicken...

I was expecting them to be a little more brown than they are, but they really are pinkish!!

My Buff Orpington lays a light pinky egg, with just a bit of brown too it. Barred rock does the same, with a touch more brown. To my eyes they do look pink next to some more "normal" brown eggs.​

Our Orpington pullets' eggs are pinkish, too.

That's so exciting

I can't wait for my first egg, my girls are only 18 weeks old so I still have a few

weeks left to wait.
