Eggs

You can't tell 100% unless you crack them open of course, but my thought is anyone with enough quail to sell eggs at the farmers market is probably keeping males, so the chances are pretty good.

I would say the chances are decent. How good the fertility is will depend on several things, such as how many males they have, how the eggs were stored, and how old the eggs are. Those are all things you won't know.

Thanks for that I don't think I'll crack one I'll just pop them all in the incubator and hope they hatch. Are they much the same as hatching chicken eggs apart from lockdown on day 15 and hatching day 18?

That depends on whether they are Coturnix eggs or other? If Cot's, 16 to 18 days, depends on bator temp and if you have hot & cold spots in the bator. Bobwhites and other new world quail will take 24 to 26 days to incubate, again, depending on temperature of the bator.

I got the 18 eggs 6 were cracked on the journey, a few had not too bad cracks so I put nail Polish on them, is this fertile ?

Update, I candled it's currently day 5, out of the 16 eggs, 1 definite 1 kind of definite and 2 not so definite but looked different they weren't clear but I think they're fertile! There could be more but I just couldn't see.
