I am new to this forum and to chickens and I was wondering what you all thought of this. Someone told me that you shouldn't wash your chicken eggs after colleting them. They said that washing them would wash away some natural protection (or something?) and allow bacteria etc. to penitrate the egg. Do any of you have any information about that? Is that true of false?

What you are referring to is called bloom. I try not to wash it off and if I do have to, I try to use the eggs right away, but I've heard arguments on both sides.

Welcome. We had chickens before, and also were under the impression that they stay fresher if you dont wash them. Brushing them off with a towel or a soft veg brush should be fine.
