Welcome to BYC. You stated they were losing feathers. That can indicate several things that can and will cause chickens to stop laying eggs: Molt will cause them to lose feathers and may take several months to regrow their feathers at which time they should start laying again. Then again there's less sunlight during the winter months, even where you're located, and egg production will slow or stop then as well. It's natures way of giving them a break from laying and revigorating themselves for springtime laying.
Pick your chickens up and visually inspect them for lice/mites. They can cause feather loss and stop egg production. Mites will cause anemia and eventual death.
Overcrowding can cause them to stop laying, also usually accompanied by feather picking/pecking, causing feather loss. Changes in the pecking order will cause them to stop laying.
Changes in feed, living conditions, temperatures, weather etc...all affect whether or not chickens will lay, and they will lay when they are good and ready.
