Eggshells and Layer Feed - too much calcium?

I have my three hens on Nutrena 16% Crumbles Layer Feed. I also have acquired 40 dozen eggshells. Is it OK to grind the shells up and toss it on the ground as a calcium supplement or would that risk giving them too much calcium (is that even a thing?)?

If it's given free-choice like that, they won't eat more than they need. Go for it.

There is nowhere near as much calcium in the egg shells as there is in the oyster shell that folks offer free choice along with the layer feed. I put ground shells in the hopper with the oyster shell in the coop.
