Eggtopsy:organs on the outside

Have you had chicks with organs on the outside of their bodies even with an automatic turner?

We recandled our last five eggs and saw no signs of life. We decided to perform eggtopsies and try to see what went wrong. One of the chicks was very underdeveloped and small. The other four all had their organs in sacs outside their bodies. I was wondering if anyone else has experienced this. We had them on an automatic turner in the bator, so I don’t think that was the problem. I’m just looking for some insight into what we did wrong. Only one chick survived this time around.

Are you sure these were sacks of organs? It is more likely that this was the yolk sac which remains external until the last day or so of hatch and is perfectly normal.

If you google stages of development, you'll be able to find pictures of the stage at which your eggs died. When was the last time you saw signs of life? Were the chicks otherwise fully developed? What was your temperatures and humidity before hatch? A little more info might help us to help you. So sorry for your losses though xx
