So, lots of movement right until lock down, then nothing. Finally, at day 22, I opened the shell so I could try to understand what might have gone wrong. 3 more similar eggs still in the bator (no signs of life).

Do these pics indicate any specific error?

I don't see anything strange.
What was your humidity and temp at through out incubation?

Thanks--I dont even know what to look for! It was 99.8 pretty much throughout, no spikes or drops, just minor fluctuations when I would pop the lid. Humidity between days 1-18 was consistently between 42-46; after lockdown it was around 69, which depending on who I talk to is either too low or too high.

I also candled pretty frequently, at least 2-3 times a week. Not sure if that was a problem, the chicks seemed to develop okay? but I'm trying to figure out everything that could have gone wrong...

I am in no way an expert, but it looks like it's insides are on the outside of its body. When I did my first eggtopsy on day 24, their guts stayed inside the body. Just my opinion though, I've only ever done 3 eggtopsies

I completely feel you on that nobody really agrees what's too high or too low. When I did my incubation, I did 45% humidity and it was too high. I did 70% at lockdown, which was also too high. I haven't done any others since so I don't have any other experience to share :idunno

The lack of consensus is one of the most nerve wracking things! But thanks for your input. I did wonder about the appearance of guts--not sure what it is supposed to look like and why that might occur...maybe just bad genes?
