Eglu cube: opinions, thoughts?

Thank you for your input I was wondering where did you get your EEs. Mine are from Tractor Supply which I think gets their chicks shipped from Hoovers Hatchery and their EEs are said to be a cross of American EEs and European EEs which are said to be around the size of Legbars.

I got mine from tractor supply also. Here is one of my EEs at 12 weeks. Shes double the size now.

I have an Eglu Cube- just finished building it Saturday. I have the 13 foot run (they mostly free range in good weather) for 3 standards (2 Red Stars, 1 RIR) and 2 bantams (in the bator right now). They seem to love it! They seem to feel much safer/secure than in their old coop (TSC Cumberland Cottage w/2 additional runs) and LOVE the nesting boxes. I have to kick them out of them every afternoon.

This is just my opinion and experience! Hope you can find a good coop!

How many chicks do you have? The coop will hold 6 but the run will only hold 4. You would need to add ventilation and hardware cloth as those pesky racoons can reach through those openings. I would also add an anti dig apron.

Sorry for the delay. We have 5 chicks (3 Barred Rock, 1 Black Star, 1 Americauna who is HUGE at 1 mos.). We’ve decided to move on from the Eglu bc of they feedback with the extra amount of work and questionable size. The Producer’s Pride is still our top choice. Even adding hardware cloth apron and reinforcement it still seems the best bang for our buck for safety and longevity. Dimensions wise the hen house portion it’s a bit wide for where it was going to live. If anyone has other coops to suggest I haven’t pulled the trigger yet.

The one in the picture looks sort of like one of mine. Good to know that they might grow bigger though.

This is probably too late now but we have an Eglu Go Up and are very satisfied with the ease of cleaning. We only have 4 chickens (2 black stars and 2 rhode island reds) and they seem happy. However, we have had to add on some security of our own. These are NOT raccoon-proof. We live in SoCal and have skunks, opossums, coyotes and skunks in addition to pesky "trash pandas". The brackets you have to buy as add-ons have been sold out for months so we have had to make do with a steel cable wrapping around the back wall, through the structure and securing with a padlock. This is a good coop for Europe but they cannot claim to be predator-proof in the Americas. So, a very pricey option for what you get.
Having said that, the coop is definitely more aesthetically pleasing than others we've seen. But the great plus was how easy it is to keep it all clean. Our kids do it themselves every day. We have the attached run as well but that is too small. Currently they free-range in our backyard all day and it's a mess.
