Eglu Cube

You know, I've always thought they were kind of small to but, it may just be me, the birds I have seen in pics from the UK and such seem to be a bit smaller that your typical farm bird here in the US.

Like I said, maybe it is just me. No way I could get 10 of my Black sexies in one of those, but on the other hand, my Red sexies are not nearly the size of my blacks.

I had looked into these because of the convenience of moving it. I was planning on two to three chickens max for it.

It simply was too expensive. $1500. for the extended run version and at the moment the purchaser has to go to a shipping terminal to pick up the five large boxes so for me that was impossible.

They are shipping them over from England in containers as they get ordered. Perhaps their facility will be running in the US soon and the prices may drop a bit?

I did find the company excellent to work with for questions. Extremely good customer service.

Congratulations! I love the orange color too.

I really like the Eglu. As for it being too small; I've noticed that people here on BYC who actually own one have been very happy with them. As for how much they cost - why should anyone care about that? A BMW or a loaded F150 is also expensive item; the determination of "value for money" is always a personal decision.

Every wood coop manufacturer I've seen seems to use the same chicken housing math, too. I think it's just the industry standard for marketing.

I think that with the Eglus and Eglu Cube the price is discussed often because they do come quite dear.

You are correct - such a purchase is always a personal decision. I certainly think they are a neat product and would consider one again should my financial circumstances allow... I did quite a bit of reading up on them and there are MANY happy Eglu customers out there.

I do hope that Eglu works on their shipping options since not everyone has a conveyance to go pick up the big boxes. I just couldn't manage it... I think they are a very willing company to go with what their customers want. Once they are up and running in the US I think they will take off!

I would enjoy some stories and photos of Eglu and Eglu Cube lovers out there.

I have a friend who has one and loves it. I think she has 4-6 banties in hers. I would love to buy an already made, easy to move, easy to clean, shelter for my chickens. Still trying to decide what to build here. Kristy
