Eglu Panic

Hi there! I'm here in Colorado Springs too and am a New Egg as well.

I ordered a coop from wholesalechicken coops.com, and sort of thought I should have gone with the eglu. I really like the look of them. I'm building my run right now..... hopefully a portable one that I can move around in my backyard. Please let us know how your eglu works out!

I've built this coop and that coop for my chickens and have been thinking I should have just saved up and bought the Eglu Cube. I'm wondering if it would be more cost efficient in the long run. Not having to paint, replace flooring, roof or walls (leaks do happen folks, wood does rot)
How heavy duty is the run?

:)Coyotemagic: I found a blog for a man who lives up in Aspen where they get a lot of snow. At one point, he let the snow accumulate on top of the run as a sort of insulation. The run collapsed...but, when he got the snow off, it popped right back into shape! That sounds good to me.

Mrs. Cluckingly: I would love to see the run you're building. Can you post a picture? I'm just north of downtown C.S. Where are you?

Actually, I'm about to give up on it. I am SO not a carpenter and I just kind of assumed that when you buy lumber, it is supposed to be straight.. well, I had already built one panel side and was about to put on the top, and it doesn't line up. I've been to Lowes like 6 times this week and I'm BROKE! I'm so frustrated. Ughh... Anyway, I'm in Security/ Fountain area. Just off Mesa Ridge Pkwy exit, past Safeway and Lowes.

Greyhound called me this morning (after I'd already put in an hour exhausting myself ripping out old rose bushes and Chinese elms) and DH and I went and got it about noon.

I had planned on hanging around and being helpful by handing him clips and staying out of his way while he did the hard work, but while he was taking his after-lunch nap, I just ripped into it and built the whole thing myself! It took me ninety minutes total, and there were only a couple minutes of frustration involved.

It looks great, and the run is just as sturdy as I've hoped.
I bought the optional tent pegs that screw into the ground, and I think that was a good idea. I can't imagine any critter moving the run without using the special peg screwdriver! I experimented and found that I can unscrew it just fine for moving the run around.

I am woman, hear me roar!
