I had the chance to hatch out some Egyptian Fayoumi chicks from a friend's stock. I had 24 chicks hatch and all are doing well. They are a 6 weeks old and i have moved them outside. The weather has been very nice. Not overly hot. Highs in the low 90's, and lows in the high 60's. I know EF are supposed to be very heat hardy, but i have noticed the chicks panting as if they were hot. They have plenty of shade and fresh cold drinking water. My cochins and other heavy breeds are not panting at all. I was just curious if anyone with experience with EF or other heat hardy breeds had a explanation for a me lol.
