Eight is Enough

We moved out of state - my kids were in school and daycare 9 or 10 hours a day every day...

Well, these little eggies are sorta my kids! I had animal kids long before my son came along!!
If we get enough of us parents of human kids in here it will be Eight is Enough. Although in this house One is Enough!!!

Just candled and it looks like we'll have to change our name to Five are Alive! Three of the eggs are perfectly clear (it's Day 8). They are all silkies, and all white. The other light buff silkie eggs have veins and stuff in there and so does the modern game/silkie/serama. The buttercup/silkie cross is doing gymnastics in its shell. At least that's what DS son says!! OMG I have never seen anything so cool!

So now my newbie question of the day. Is it normal for one of the eggs to look like it is more developed than the others?? Might it be because it is a different kind? We've named that one Nadia for her gymnastics abilities.

Hi K,

If you candled them today at day 7 there will be diiferences in development.
I candled mine this morning and at day 9 they are all a little different.
Depending on your candling method you should see that most of the egg is
dark and maybe some veins.

Speckledhen sent me this link a while ago. These are for duck eggs but they
will give you a good idea.

Happy hatching!!!

Thanks PC. The ones that are clear show nothing at all. The silkies and the cross show dark with lots of veins. Then there is the buttercup/silkie which is wiggling all over the place in there. I candled them all at the same time. Well, one at a time, but all in a row. Oh you know what I mean!!

Wiggling is a GREAT sign.

The clear ones are losses but leave them in. They help regulate temp and ya never know.
