Electric fence issues..

I have it grounded to the field fence an to 3 ground rods around 100 feet apart. If I touch the hot wire an the field fence it will work but nothing if I touch the the hot wire while just standing on the ground. I'm lost at this point.

Never mind. We found a dead short at the far end of the run. Now it will knock you off your feet if you have your shoes off...

I know, I have one that will knock you to your knees with boots on.

Your ground rods should be attached to the charger, and should be about 10 feet apart

The charger is grounded to the 3 ground rods an the field fence. Working pretty good with the rods 100 feet apart.
