has anyone used a lightning arrestor or using one at the present time?I was looking at one at tractor supply today and after having to fork out 40 bucks for charger repairs last week because of lightning damage I decided to give it a try,I am not sure if it will work or not ,but,,40 bucks is 40 bucks,,right??

No but I don't see why it wouldn't work. I have electric and so far I have been lucky. My well got hit once luckily I only had to replace the relay switch and a tree next to the barn got hit.

They are not an absolute guarantee, but if properly installed they do give you a lot bigger margin of error. The ones I'm familiar with need to be installed a certain distance (don't know offhand) from the charger's ground rods so before paying money you should look at the installation directions for the one you are considering and make sure it can be installed properly in your setup.

Good luck, have fun,

Pat
