Electric fences and pet dogs

Hi BYC!!

We are moving our flock to bear country . We have an 8 foot chain link perimeter fence around part of the property. We want to add an electric fence to the perimeter fence. We are worried about our pet dogs, how can we set this up so that nothing gets in from the outside, but if our dogs were to jump on the fence from the inside they won’t get injured. Is this possible? Also what brands do y’all recommend? Where we are now we have fox and raccoon and we have thwarted them so far, but bears and coyotes are a different issue.
Thanks so much.
Your dogs won't be hurt if they jump on a "juiced" fence; it's DC current, not AC. They'd get the same jolt you would if you touched a juiced wire.

Check this out. It took maybe ten minute to train adult female dog to cross fence using plastic bridge.

Dog crosses like my daughter does. Working on a 10 week old pup to do same now.

I just put up an electric fence. I accidentally zapped myself. It was pretty strong but not strong enough to hurt me. Two of my dogs got zapped. The one got it full force, jumped back and cried. The second dog, it wasn't as bad. Both dogs went back slowly to check it out and that was it. They have t bothered it since.
