Does anyone have experience using high tensile electric fencing to keep free-range flocks contained? I'm not referring to poultry netting. We are going to fence about an acre (to start) and the cost of netting is somewhat prohibitive. I have read that there are folks using just two strands and clipping wings to keep birds contained and predators out.

I think you have a good idea. It should keep them put if you can keep them on the gound. But, the big advantage is keeping predators out esp. dogs.

BTW, are you near Gainesville?

We have a Newf who fancies herself a LGD to keep out the racoons, coyotes, dogs, etc. I'm in Dawsonville, not to far from where you're at Pavo Royale! Mostly just need to keep the birds in.
