Electric Free Heated Water

I've seen a few people seeking a non electric heated water solution.

This claims to use solar power. Noir experience with it, just ran into it and thought I'd share, could be a good find for someone.

They really aren't. I got excited for a minute hoping it could help someone. Seems making an affordable solar waterer would be a worthy project. Don't we have some designers here? I have power but still would be a handy backup solution.

It's been discussed, there are a few seriously savvy solar folks here.
Passive solar is iffy, especially where it's really cold and there's a lack of sun, even where it's relatively sunny the short days and low angle make it tough to grab and hold enough passive heat gain.
You could do a solar heater, but you'd need a good solar system with adequate panels and battery storage to 'get you thru the night'.
Heating anything takes a good bit of power.
