electric skillet as incubator- experiment- coturnix quail

I dont have a cooler or grate /: i thought about trying a box but dont want to stop air flow. Eggs are in and things are good so far- *knock on wood!*

I expect a box would do fine, its just an idea for next time...I'm pulling for ya!

Its day 5 on the new batch. I candled a few real quick just to see if i could make out anything. Lol i cant.
One has spitspots and light base color even. The ones i looked at all seem to have something in them. None were as bright as when i candled before putting em in. So fingers crossed.
Lockdown is on the tenth.

I quickly and carefully candled all eight eggs this evening. None glowed so i either will get chicks or really slowly hard cooked eggs. Hopefully chicks though!
The humidity has been 45-50% with a little of 40-45%.. so jist double checkin on lockdown i want to up humidity to 60-70% right?
I am nervous for em and got a darn rabbit makin me wait on her to kindle so double antsy! Lol darn critters.

I shoot for 70%, if you cant get there just do the best you can.

Exciting, fingers crossed for you. I have the opposite problem-an incubator with rice in to bring the humidity down as the average day here the rh is 65+ in the uk! To get up to 70 I take the rice out and hang a wet t-shirt in the room-ta da!

LL EIGHT HAVE AIR SACS!!! OMGOMGOMGOMG!!!
I got new batteries for my nice LED flashlight and i see airsacs in all eight eggs! The big ones from the one hen have thicker and darker basecolor shells so it took an extra minute for my eyes to adjust and look em all over thre times to be sure but i faintly see airsacs!

Hahaha i guess i have been more expecting them to not hatch or only one or so hatch.. i nearly dropped the first egg when i saw the airsac i was so excited!!!

AHHH I am just so stoked now! I guess this means i really need to have everything ready for my brooder Lockdown is tomorrow!

Since they went in at 9 i need to start lockdown at 9 correct?
Oh gosh i dont think i will sleep at all until these hatch!

Well good luck im excited to see if they hatch. i just hatched some from a really old incubator and had some serious deformitys i lost 3 and one with a bent neck i think its from inbreeding im going to order some eggs probaly some jumbos
