Electrolytes and probiotics

I'm confused and thought humans take eectrolytes to replace salts and stuff lost through perspiration. But, chickens don't perspire, they pant. Someone straighten me out please.

They still lose 'moisture' and the ability to balance it in their bodies.
It's not just abut salt and sweating.
I don't know the exact science, but I know it definitely helps.
