Can they give a chicken diahrrea if you give them too much? I reduced the electrolytes and switched her back to a smaller water bottle since she is the only one. She hasn’t had any diarrhea till now.

No supplement should be given more than 10 days... why are you supplementing her?

You can kill a chicken if your mix is too strong... with the minerals in the electrolytes... and if you used brown sugar in your mix, yes I that can give diarrhea caused by the molasses.

Where are her friends? How old is she?

Are you sure it's diarrhea? Chickens do pass all their urates in with the feces.

:fl

My electrolytes is supposed to be changed everyday. Your silkie is a small bird , I’m hoping you’re mixing it right ,it should be a pale colour once mixed.

Could you send a picture of her droppings? Maybe the timing was a coincidence. I know every once in a while my hens Will have a watery poop or a few during times where it’s really hot. When I read up on it it’s simply just because they’re taking it a lot more water. How long is she had diarrhea

Her sibling passed away a few weeks back and I have been trying to find another one to put in with her, but we are not having any luck with that. It was a one time thing. I was told I had to give her the electrolytes. I hadn’t been giving them to her till the vet told me that I needed too. If she doesn’t have to need them then I will stop them. She is 2 months old and very active.

We are not sure exactly, but she did have diarrhea from the day I brought her home, till the day she passed away. The one we have now she is pretty healthy, and I have been keeping her on the same food since the day I brought them home. It’s the medicated food.

Has her diarrhea continued? Has she passed anything solid lately? If you are changing it every day and you’re sure you’re mixing it correctly I could understand if she was already having diarrhea maybe the electrolytes but that’s odd they started after them

Yeah I do change her water every day, it was a one time deal, because right after that one her poop was looking better. I went back using the smaller jug since it is only her and that way she doesn’t get too much water she still gets her water. It started to scare me especially after we had just lost her sibling. I guess I stress a little bit, but I don’t know who wouldn’t.

I stress about my animals Sometimes over the smallest little hiccup. But when it comes to diarrhea you can’t be too careful because it can be signs of more serious stuff if it continues. I wouldn’t worry about trying to make sure she doesn’t get too much water. Definitely let her get as much water as she needs weather electrolytes or not Because it’s definitely normal to have the wet poops here and there when it’s hot outside because just like us there drinking more to keep hydrated. http://www.the-chicken-chick.com/whats-scoop-on-chicken-poop-digestive/
This is a poop chart I use when I see something suspicious. And a lot of good information on this page 2.
