All the electrolytes I have looked at have directions to make a gallon at a time. Then it says to throw out after 24 hours. Is there a way to keep the gallon longer as I don’t need a gallon every 24 hours? I think I’m missing something. Also, what kind does everyone prefer? These are the two available at my tractor supply store. Is there something better I should look to order online? Best ways to use? Thanks for any advice!!

I bought the "Electrolytes" one from Tractor Supply. (the same brand as in your pic) I have never made a gallon all at once. I always divide each packet into 4 equal servings and mix each one into a quart of water, then give it to the chicks over the course of 4 days. (one quart a day. once they drink the whole quart, give them normal water) in my opinion, it's pretty useless to make a whole gallon unless you have enough chicks to drink it all in 24 hours.

Use The Sav-A-Chick electrolytes. I use the probiotics sometimes too, you should get a pack of them just to have on hand. I just pour in a bit into whatever container I'm using. I totally eyeball it. Just enough that it turns a clear orangey color. I have never measured it out lol. Do they have any poultry nutridrench or poultry cell? Those are great things to have on hand too.

That sounds like a great idea and definitely a lot better than using it all up to throw most of it away! I just wasn’t sure if there is another way to keep it in the fridge or something.

I will look for those other products when I go tomorrow. Got to build up my supplies. I ended up buying all 3 of the electrolytes and probiotics! Figured it wouldn’t hurt to have some extra on hand when summer really hits here.

I just make mini batches and scale it down, so instead of 1 packet + 1 gallon, it'd be 1/4 packet + 1 quart. Also I don't measure precisely, I just eyeball it. You're only going to use it for a few days to a week anyhow in most cases.

At least until our summer gets going here. One of the things about living in the Chihuahuan Desert! I’ll just mix a little bit at a time to get through this next week with my new babies. Thanks!!
