ELI5 Why do so many ppl treat chickens expendable??

And what’s the general consensus about sneaking a bird into someone else’s flock nearby? lol kidding mostly
That only irresponsible and rude people do that. Some people ethically can't have chickens leave their property eother, whether or not people want those birds
 
One of my older hen's about 5-6yrs old is starting to eat eggs too.

I’ve got 16 chickens, and a friend of mine has 73. She has tons of land. I was incubating some eggs and she asks “girl what are you going to do if you get another rooster?” I looked at her and smiled. She’s like don’t even think about it. She’s since put up motion lights. She claims it’s for “raccoons”…
 
Yeah I read that some breeds only live 1-2 years! I thought that’s incredibly short. Wow some dogs don’t live 13 years!
I heard small dogs live longer than big dogs. That might be true for chickens too since she was a dutch bantam
