Hello! I am new in poultry breeding and l would need some help. The problem is that my buff chicken have that orange colour & black columbia on tail, wings and neck.
But someone explained to me that if i introduce a good blue rooster (from blue x blue cross) with my best buff hen i might be able to dilute that black away through multiple breedings.
Now is this true? And if it is, what are the steps that i need to do? The breed is Transylvanian nacked neck.
Thanks in advace!

Best-case scenario, you might dilute the black to splash (light gray color). That is still not buff.

And crossing to a chicken that is blue all over will probably give you chickens that have much larger areas of black or blue or splash.

So with several generations of work, you might have buff chickens that show larger amounts of splash, instead of the current amount of black.

If you can get an actual buff chicken that does not show black, that would be more helpful. Maybe one from a different breed, but with similar body type? The actual naked neck is caused by just one gene, so it's easy to get that trait in crosses.

Alternatively, you could hatch large numbers of chicks from the birds you have now, and see whether they all have the same amount of black or whether some have less. If some of them have less black than others, breed more chicks from the less-black ones. That is probably how solid buff chickens were originally developed.
