Little Jasmine and Iris laying in the sun at 4 weeks.

I believe this was taken a couple of days after we lost power at our house for three days. I slept with them and had them under my covers to keep them warm, but those little fluff balls couldn't live with 40-50* inside the house after two days of cold. A friend said I could stay over their house and take the chicks with me. They certainly were happy to be back in 70-80*F.
Precious!

Well I had an interesting afternoon... Got back from the feed store with a full day planned, just to hear the neighbor calling out. All five pigs escaped and three were in her pond. So after DS went through a 1 1/2 mile marathon to get those three home, we had to find a way to contain them. They're now in my wood shop (in the barn) and I'll find a way to close off the barn (dirt side) tomorrow. Have no idea where the other two are hiding. And poor Todd can't go roam until they are under control. BTW all of the plans I had today were cancelled in favor of finding and containing pigs. :barnie
Those darn pigs... They seem to cause all of your trouble! :lau

Leia making me miss summer... Such a cute nugget.

I tried taking some pictures yesterday. I failed completely, lighting was weird and none were photogenic, even Jessie and Della. I might upload them, I need some more winter shots.

Flock Update:
(I haven't done this in forever... sorry about that)

So all of the chooks are doing fairly well. I noticed Felicity running with a limp, and when I picked her up (to her annoyance) I saw she had a cut on her left foot, which I cover. I do NOT want another hen prone to bumblefoot, it's such a hassle.

Besides that, the coop is extra warm with the mini deep litter I did. :)

Both old and young chooks are officially freeloading SLACKERS (and not in molt whatsoever) and I had to buy some eggs yesterday. Sigh.
