Emaciated chicken

And I have a pullet which is 4 months old shes not eating fine she was fine before I buyed a rooster after that she not eating full tummy and there is no sign of injuries she walks fine please help

How old is the rooster? Is he letting her eat? Did you just put them together or have they been together for some time? What is a moll? Maybe she is stressed from the attack from whatever it was that tore your roosters wattle. Scramble some eggs for them and see if you can tempt her into eating again. She may just be stressed.

A moll is a predator which stays, under ground and my rooster is 4 months is well she dosent looks stressed she looks fine running flying

"Her friend was an internal layer-6mo battle with peritonitis, ascites, possible other internal issues. She had the implant and she stopped laying, but I think it was a day late, dollar short

Anyways, this emaciated girl has a bowl of food on the deck, but when she started molting she stopped coming up. I'm just going to pull her in the house once or twice a day and give her a good meal. I cooked them eggs yesterday, and she was inhaling them as I was standing there- but eventually the other birds came over and she ran off. I give them scratch way more often than I should (I feel guilty for not spending time with them) and daily meal worms because they're molting. I've got a million things going on tomorrow and this weekend, but I'll make a vet apt for Monday- I don't want to worm her unnecessarily, especially when she's in a weakened state already.

Any other foods you can recommend??"

I applaud your decision to bring her to a vet and hopefully, she is not suffering from peritonitis. Last year, my little hen went through the same - emaciated, weak and molting. I brought her in the house and kept her in a large Rubbermaid tub filled with pine shavings and put a screen on top. I caught her one morning laying a shell-less egg. I immediately brought her to the vet. She stayed for 3 days. Antibiotics and calcium restored her to good health! This year, she went through her molt (very heavy) in September. She never lost her spunk and she has since put on weight! She looks like she did as a young 8 month old! Of course, after the vet bill, she has become a house pet :)

Try high calcium / protein foods such as yogurt, eggs (which you already have done), salad greens, wild rice, pasta (with omega 3), salmon/tuna, The list is endless. Try fresh veggies as well and feed her separately from the flock! Hope the poor baby gets better!

Oh, a mole. Well, I seriously doubt a mole attacked your rooster. Moles stay underground and eat earthworms. They don't pop out at night and climb on roosters.
Something else got to your rooster, maybe a big rat? Maybe your pullet is pecking at the wattle? That would not be surprising. Chickens can and do peck at and eat at others wounds. You might buy some anti-peck lotion and put that on the roosters wattles for the next week and see how that goes.

X2, never ever heard of a mole attacking anything bigger than insects and earthworms.

Please help yesterday a moll nearly ate my rooster but it couldnt 2 days later I saw he lost on of his wattles will he be fine.

sammy56, please start your own thread. I've seen you posting on several other folk's threads and it's not only bad manners, but confusing to people trying to help. You will most likely get better responses that way. And I agree, I seriously doubt it was a mole, but in any case, start your own thread so others can help. Thanks.

We spend an exceptional amount of time at the vet, unfortunately. (Every 2-4 weeks with my internal layer)
The implant was suprelorin - it's a hormonal implant that is suppose to shut down the ovaries. Often used on parrots. He wasn't sure how long it would last on a chicken-typically lasts a few years on parrots, but they aren't bred for egg making. It definitely did it's job, but she only lasted another 2months afterwards. Next time (hopefully there ISNT a next time) I would have it implanted as soon as problems started (we waited about 4mo). An emotional roller coaster than ended in heartbreak...for this reason I will NEVER buy chicks from farm supply again and have started rescuing hens.

I pulled my skinny girl in the house this morn for breakfast, she ate a bit, sat with me, and then went back outside. If you notice, she's leaning to one side as she sits- I'm assuming it's because it's uncomfortable to sit straight on her keel (no muscle to cushion). Any thoughts?? She's in a huge molt- so it's hard to tell if she is quiet because of that or because she's sick :/
This molt worries me too- my other chicken got sick after her first big molt. :(

I have one going through a big hard molt right now. She's miserable. I'm feeding rooster booster vitamins in the water, chick feed for the higher protein (along with free choice oyster shell of course) and giving mealworms as a treat. I would guess it's a combination of both molt misery and illness for your gal. I'd lay off the scratch and focus on getting higher protein, nutritious foods in her. You might consider putting her in a kennel next to the coop during the day with her own food and vitamin water so she can eat at her leisure instead of being pushed away from the food all the time. Put her back in the coop at night and out next to them in the day-she'll still be part of the flock, but will be able to relax and eat more easily. Good luck with her and please let us know how she's doing!

I have seen other threads too with the exact same question. Does anyone think it's somebody messing with us or even spam??

I hope the extra protein and vitamins help her. Thank you for explaining the implant....that us very useful knowledge. I agree, I will never buy chicks from a farm supply store again either. Have ypu ever treated her for coccidiosis??? She's leaning towards one side.....sometimes they can do that with coccidiosis. Although, if she were mine I would try the vitamins/protein first. :) keep us posted.
