Emaciated chickens

It helps to lessen the disease in the dander that is around your coop. They are already carriers, but it would not hurt to use it periodically. It is most important to do this if you eventually lose most of your birds, before adding new vaccinated birds.

Ok. Yeah, I won't be adding any more. My heart can't take it anymore. I will do my very best to baby the ones I have left, as I always have, but this is the last straw. I would not want to pass this on to any new birds. It's too bad, they are ssssooo much fun. It just hurts my heart too much to lose them. Between predators, neighbors dogs, disease, etc...,they haven't had much of a chance around here despite all of our precautions.

Amazingly I already got the results back and she did have a few worms but it looks like it was Marek's. ☹ I will be treating the rest for worms. Is there anything I can do for the Marek's? My banties were vaccinated against it but Tractor Supply does not purchase from a place that gives vaccinations that's why the big hens were not inoculated. Thank you so much again for this invaluable resource, it now explains previous chicken deaths I've had where the vet said he thought it was cancer! Chicken keeping is so hard 😢. They're all my babies...
I'm sorry you lost your birds, and I'm sorry that it was Marek's. But you're a good responsible chicken keeper for getting the tests done (& digging the bird up to do it!) to find out what it was.
:hugs

Ditto Dat!!

Might be a moot point, but scattering the left over feed in the run, will bring in rodents. Rodents as in mice and rats, that can fit through holes the size of a dime.
...not to mention it can get moldy which can cause illness.
