Embden Goose?

I volunteer for a small rescue outfit. I'm not sure what the forum's policy is on links, but this is what we do:http://www.urbanraptorproject.com/wildline.html

The goose only has to deal with well fed, lazy domestic cats and I have seen how she deals with them!
Sounds like she has them well in hand. Thanks for the link I'll go have a look.

That is a nice thing ya'll are doing Allears.

Thanks Miss Lydia, avatar is another one of my children, sadly I only have feathered, furred and scaled ones. Goose-goose doesn't sit on her eggs at all, she's only in her nest when she is laying, then leaves. Do you think she's just never had a mate to protect her while she sitting before, so she doesn't know how to behave?

It's all instinct she probably isn't through building her clutch of eggs is why she hasn't started sitting yet. Have you ever thought of getting her a mate? of course then you'd have more geese but have to deal with a very aggressive gander close to 5 months of the year. lol

LOL if I wasn't living in town and I had the space I know now that I would have a small flock :)

It's sad for me that Goose-goose isn't getting a chance to be a Momma. Maybe it would be better for her if I could find her a good home with other geese. I would miss her dearly though, she is a honey and such a big presence in the garden.

I shared the eggs with my neighbours. They are "Townies" and I think have never seen anything other than chicken eggs from a box. Their little son (4) thinks they are dinosaur eggs

They make the best omelets.

You know geese are flock animals and she maybe happier with a flock, but I'm sure she is somewhat bonded with you and the other birds and animals you have there. I always encourage those who have only one to think about a mate or companion but If you see she is happy I would just continue to enjoy her as it is.
I have 2 pairs and both my geese lay but I am collecting eggs and not letting them hatch, I don't have the room for one thing and they seem very content . I know they would have liked to hatch but they are fine and now breeding and laying is over for the year and they are actually nice to be around again. I couldn't say that a month ago.
