The farrier pet the stallion, but just for precautionary reasons stuck a muzzle to his face. He began to care for his hooves, eventually moving on to the two front ones. He pounded two horse shoes onto them. For the finishing touch he applied some hoof polish.

Dennis yanked down on his halter and stud chain, which were still attached. "Bad!" he said. The farrier was over soon enough, was paid by the young man, and then left. "You should know better by now, Buddy." He put a blanket on Spirit before securing him into a trailer beside a black and white Paint Overo. She was busy eating the hay in front of her as she noticed the stallion beside her and paused. "Want some?" she asked casually.
