Embryo death... What day did this poor chick die. (graphic)

You would probably have to open up the rest of the eggs that died to be certain why they did. This one could be an anomaly. For instance, if the relative humidity in your incubator was too high, the great majority of your eggs might have died during the internal pip stage, when they drowned, but this one might have been an earlier death prior to being moved to the hatcher. A lot of people use hatchers so I don't think that would be the problem. So, investigate further. It's hard to say why this one died, but at this stage I think temperature spikes are the most common cause of death.

Edit: Just noticed you asked which day it died on, not why. Sorry! But still, investigating the cause would be helpful.

Can't really say since the towel on top would present a problem for sure. One of the most important things about hatching is the placement of the incubator. I believe i sent you the article and it does tell you this. It's also one of the problems I had when I first started hatching was where I had placed the incubator.

In either case there are numerous reasons why and egg would quit.

We've hatched about 75 chicks without issue. The problem was my husband thinking it looked like a good shelf for the clean towels as he folded them straight from the dryer. He's been -sternly- educated about how the incubator works. I'll open the others now...

You're mistaken. Never have gotten anything from you.
