As of this morning she has 4 chicks. So far she is being a good momma. I will be opening her cage later today and we will see how she does.
I will keep you updated. May be later I can send some photos.

She started with 6 eggs but some how ended up with 8. I don't how she was laying and brooding.

Well here we go, Both hens hatched 6 chicks.

The first is Louseal with hers:

I do believe momma is a bantam, but she is doing quite well with her new brood.

This is whity and her 6 chicks.

This one looks like the chick on the movie Happy Feet.

Now the fun part is seeing if they can handle being in the same run together.

Can't wait to hear what will happen next, please keep posting.

OMG!, they are so cute. I want some. How old do the girls have to be before they go broody?.

Well I was shocked when Whity went into brooding. I did not expect her to at only 9 months.

I'm so happy both hens made good broodies!

My first experience with broody hens was this summer - they were both 8 month old barnevelders. The first one was clumsy and kept cracking or breaking the eggs (never ate any though) and I was able to get one chick from her (hatched indoors by me). The second hen(pullet) was wonderful and hatched 6 chicks (see below).
