Emergency! A limp duck with a dark spot on foot!

A picture of the white one standing with its head up. But in that pic, it could very well be a duck.
Went back and looked at the original picture and I am pretty sure the white on is a goose or it's the tallest duck I have ever seen. The legs look to long to be a duck?

I add a clear picture of the White one below and you can have a look. I guess ducks have flat bill but geese have shorter notched bill? Good news is that today the injured one gets better! I'll keep an eye on it and if he can't do well I'll contact rscpa, an Australia poultry organization.

You are absolutely right it is indeed a runner duck and not a goose. These are domesticated ducks that will not survive long in the wild. Maybe you can adopt them or find them a home, they are very popular with people. They seem to be good for controlling snail plagues. Maybe you know someone in the area with a vegetable garden?

Glad he's back on his feet!

Yes I would like to adopt them, feed them the right food and take care of them. But I'm renting a house and not allowed to build a big coop or pen. So I'm thinking of providing an enclosure to keep them away from night predators.

I do know one of my neighbor who has a vegetable garden and the ducks goes to their garden every afternoon. But it seems my neighbor would not keep them as pets or livestock. I have talked to them but they don't have the will to adopt them.

Every day these two start off from the grass in front of our house to the stream to swim and forage. When it's dusk they come back and sleep. So I guess their main threaten comes from night predators? What if I put a proper enclosure on the grass to provide them shelter? Around us, I have never seen foxes or raccoons. We have cats, water mice, water snakes, and small kangaroos.

If these two ducks have successfully lived here for at least one year, does that mean this place is safe for them? I'm just thinking maybe they can still live here if I provide them a night shelter? Basically, I don't know if rehoming is a good choice cause it seems like forcing them to leave where they grow up and are familiar with...

Looking forward to your replies! Really thank you for caring so much!

How about that no wonder the legs were longer. I agree with @kwik-kwak I hope you can find the owners or find someone who can take them and keep them safe. How is the injured one doing?
I feed the injured one brown rice and chopped seedless grape with turmeric powder sprinkled these days and he is getting better day by day. But still can't walk as normal. I will wait for three more days. If he's still like this I have to call a vet.

About adoption, I'm thinking of adopting them by myself. They come to our garden to sleep every night so, maybe I can put a big enough enclosure (cause runners are so tall) to protect them from night predators? Do you think that's a good choice?

Looking forward to your reply! Thank you for helping!

It sounds like a good plan. The night is indeed the most dangerous, but during the day they can of course also be attacked. It is not without any risk to release them during the day. Since they are used to it, I think it is an acceptable risk in this case. It is also important that they are happy.

The fact that nothing happened before is unfortunately no guarantee for the future.

By the way, they do not need a huge house for the night, the main thing is that it is completely closed off from predators.
