PLEEEASE help meee. I'm not actually a breeder or anything but last sunday a family member picked up a lost baby chick on the streets from the fiesta. There are these evil men that sell sprayed colored chicks in pushcarts at these events. The chick was lively but slightly limping then and I was busy cooking and they kept trying to feed it rice but it wouldn't. Good thing I noticed while everyone else was nusy mingling that it had gotten out of the flipped basket we placed it in and my grandma's shi tzu was "attacking"(well playing to be exact) it. I didn't know what to do then so I heated a wet towel and placed it near the chick but it ended up wetting the towel i placed underneath it and above it to warm it so that night I tried to feed it oats as I saw in a homemade starter recipe that had oats and it was also the only thing we had in the house. I fed it oats and spoonfed it water. I then noticed that it had a wound on it's right foot's middle finger. It sometimes pecked the wound but i couldn't wrap tape or anything on it cause the skin on it's foot would get peeled off by the tape when i try :( ... I fed it water with a bit of vitamin B dissolved in it and since I don't really have much of feed I also added a bti of fish oil in ground rolled oats as a feed and a bit of corn and fresh milk. It became more lively the next 2 days and was already running around yesterday it wasn't losing it's balance or getting lethargic anymore. Then yesterday afternoon I went out and slept over at a hotel. Left the chick in the kitchen with the housekeeper. I keep it in a birdcage btw and they won''t let me bring it in the house and kept insisting it stay on the kitchen floor and I know there are a lot of lizards roaches and big RATS that run around there. I was really worried but couldn't do anything.

Today I came home and checked him up immediately and when I saw him I was devastated. the water basin had no more water it was obviously spilled all over the cage and he was lying in the middle of the cage(which is weird cause he usually cuddles up in the towel i placed by the corner of the cage) and about 3/4 of the cage with tissue paper and the towel were soaked in poo and oatmeal and there were flies around it. I guess it went frantic that night because of the crawlers. It didn't the other nights cause i kept it in the house where there were no crawlers. Now whenever I try to give it water after a while it starts gasping and he's just laying on his side barely moving and his breath is quite fast paced :(( I don't know what to do i don't want him to die. I also noticed a small bump under it's anus it's dark with a few smaller white bumps on it. idk what that is :(( he can't even stand anymore. It won't eat boiled egg or the oats it drinks a bit of milk and water when is spoonfeed him then he starts gasping and i get worried i might drown or choke him.. WHAT SHOULD I DO. I also don't have cash for the vet and my family won't support me on that either.

Sorry to hear of this happening, but bless you for trying to help this poor little chick! I'm not really sure what's going on with the chick. It could be any number of things. Unfortunately it sounds like he may already be on his way out :( Just make sure to keep him warm, and try to give him water Good luck to you, hopefully someone will have some better advice.

Nevermind..He passed away just a while ago. I got pulled away from him to do some chores and when I came back his head was hanging away from the towel i placed him on and he had obviously struggled to move and I saw that he pooped on the towel before dying :(( I feel so bad I should've checked on him regularly...haay...
