Emergency baby duck 3 to 5 days old

You could fashion a shoe using some light weight plastic like from a butter container or something else [imagination] wrap so there are no sharp edges, place foot down in normal position Then wrap foot to shoe.Going up onto the ankle to help support the ankle area while healing. Just be sure not to wrap to tight and cut off circulation.
When feeding anything other than their normal chick feed they will need grit, it helps them to be about to grind up their food. Chick grit for one so tiny.
Probably not a niacin def unless it can be transmitted from the mama if she wasn't feed a good whole diet. I'd say this is an injury.
Is the little one eating good? drinking good?

I’m so sorry that you lost one of the babies. You could try using popsicle sticks to make a brave for its leg. And use a piece of cardboard or plastic for the bottom. Place it’s foot on the bottom piece flat and tape it down with some vet tape or medical tape and then wrap it’s leg with the sticks with the tape as well. This worked for us , however our baby was a few weeks old. I hope this helps u.

I wouldn't put him in water to swim. It's not necessary he just needs enough water to dunk his beak to be able to rinse his beak to eat.
I take him swimming 2 times a day. I also hold him to eat and drink on the hour each hour. He also spends time on my lap or with me a lot of the day. He's eating fine making happy chirp noises and drinking ok. No alarm calls at all. Just quiet and happy noises.

As for the leg. In warm water it still sticks out behind, but moves at the shoulder, but not at the knee or ankle.

Thanks for the shoe idea. His ankle for sure it's twisted and it's foot is in a ball, so perhaps with your butter carton idea I'll make a full shoe and leg brace then maybe attach it also to the good leg so it's pointing down and now back.

Any suggestions on what to use to wrap it?

Vet wrap or the flexible self adhesive medical tape
