That looks like a joint,if so that bone will not go in straight, gently open wound a little bit(you might need a pair of sterilized tweezers to open wound),try and join bones as close as possible and in correct alignment. Put antibiotic ointment on wound, wrap with sterilized gauze/vet wrap or whatever you have, careful not to wrap too tight(you do not want to cut off circulation). Next try and splint leg,if this is not possible because of the angle of break, then wrapping might be enough to keep immobilized. I would check wound for infection daily. Bones have to be joined as soon as possible, because they start to fuse together rather quickly. I use super glue to hold wounds together in the event no vet/doctor is possible/available(this is what i use on myself and my pets, not suggesting you use this, but just thought i would mention it.) If wound is small, wrap it and it will close together on its own. For pain you can purchase Metacam from a vet,or give baby aspirin(81mg),dose is 25mg per lb of body weight, crush and put in water or sprinkle over food.
If the bones are joined together at the break, end to end, then you probably have the alignment correct. You are going to look at her other leg and compare the alignment, use your best judgement on this. Keep her quiet for a couple of days. She may have a limp after, but that is fine.barely gone the bone in but it doesn't look like in the correct alignment. Thanks for your help for getting the bone in! Now how do I get it proper in alignment? How do I know?
