EMERGENCY - CHICK BRAIN OUTSIDE OF HEAD??? PLEASE HELP!!

@casportpony i had someone from home send it. Pic isn’t the best quality. Neither is the example of the way the bird is laying. The baby is up and moving around and active. Tough to tell based on this position but it’s true. Anyway, can you tell anything from this as far as sir sack or brain?

I forgot to post the other day and I know this is a learning site so I wanted to follow up. Lord knows I’ve learned so very much here. And with many thanks to you Kathy.
Unfortunately, upon returning home and upon a closer look- despite a driving and strong will to live like I have never ever seen, I do believe it was in fact exposed brain on my little chick. His outlook wasn’t promising at ALL. Took a turn for the worse (all the while, fighting like hell for his life which always makes the heart ache - and bad), and I made the difficult and humane call that is chicken keepers must make from time to time. It’s always very hard for me. There’s always tears. But I did it out of love and compassion for the little one.
Photo attached. It is a graphic photo but I wouldn’t mind confirmations that this is in fact brain. Not that I can undo my choice. Or would even wish I could. It’s just always nice to hear you made the right decision for the animals in cases like this one. Makes it a tad bit easier or more comforting- you know?

That's my biggest fear... currently he's in his own little container... happy as a clam too... ugh. Any ideas on what would have caused it?

Searching on the site, the ones I've found with this issue have all been Cochin's and that's what this one is as well... I would think maybe something genetic or environmental but we have 45+ others that have hatched in the past 3 days with no issues...

This chick has black beak, not Cochin. Silkie or part silkie ? Vaulted skulls have hole in skull and the brain bulges.

Cerebral hernia. Open. But the brain is encapsulated.and skin will grow over it . All silkies have hole in skull, and brain bulges. Bigger crest, bigger bulge

The original post of this thread is from 2013 (7 years old). The most current is from a year ago and sadly that poster lost their chick.

Looks like they also mentioned the chick was 1/2 Cochin and NN.

I realize this is an old thread, but came across it while Googling.

I opened up a "quitter" egg (died while incubating) from another vaulted-skull breed today and it also appeared to have its brain resting on the top of its head like this. I think it had only very recently passed away, and I assume it was from the deformity. It was pretty far along in its development -- feathers and everything -- but was smaller than the Day 18 chicks I candled today. It still had a healthy-looking network of red veins and no blood ring, but was not moving in the egg like the others in the incubator, or after I opened it up.

This is my first time with tophat chicks, so I'm making a big assumption here as to how they develop in the egg.

Well, Brainy didn't make it... one minute he was fine and the next he was gone... :~(

I just had a baby chick hatch with the same thing on its head, tho its head its self is deformed and it has no eyes :/ im pretty sure my turkey bred with my chicken soooo
