EMERGENCY - Duckling is gagging and in distress!

How are things this morning?

She hasn't had another mishap since her little episode last night, but I've got a vet appointment today so they can see if there's anything in her throat or stuck in her crop. Thank you guys so much for your support, I can't tell you how much it means to me. <3

Update: Wobbles went to the vet. I was impressed at her expertise with ducks. She does indeed seem to have an upper respiratory infection and has started on antibiotics. They're doing several cultures right now, one bacterial, one fungal. We'll know by Tuesday.

Just curious, what antibiotic did you get?

Trimethoprim Sulfa, or TMS. Which I am allergic to. So I keep getting sick every time I have to dose her. Bleh.

She's worth it though. ._.

I know you are so relieved. It's no fun feeling helpless. I love this website because it keeps you from feeling that way. It's nice to know we all can learn from the experiences of others. Respiratory infection...didn't even cross my mind for one so small. Hope it's going to be just fine.

Yeah, I don't know where I'd be if not for BYC. You guys are all amazing.

How's the duckling?

She's still whistling through her nares, but she also has a while left to go on her medication. I just hope the problem really IS bacterial and not something else. The results of her tests come back on Tuesday so I guess we'll know then!

So here's a real kicker - Wobs' culture came back today, turns out she has two bacterial blooms, both of which are RESISTANT TO SULFA MEDS. /facepalm So here's me, having allergic reactions, tingly skin and rashes for all this time for nothing. Yay?

She starts on her new meds tomorrow.

So what now? Clavamox? Baytril?
