Noticed my 13 mth old hen was in nesting box when I let the chickens out for the morning at 8am.
Went into town and came home a few hours later and saw her outside but with wings sorta of spread and walking weird, sort of like a waddle. She did this every few seconds until she was able to get to coop and then went under chicken coop and stayed there. I went on site to see if it is egg bound what to do. I held her in warm water for 30 minues while massaging her belly. I don't know what I was suppose to feel, but there wasn't anything in her opening and its kind of pulsating where its not all the way open or closed , but that kind of action. Since putting her in bath, she has had her eyes closed. shes been breathing heavier, but not panting.. I have her on my lap wrapped in a towel with a warm rice bag on stomach area and I can feel her crop doing that pulsating act on my stomach.
Is this egg bound? Is this a illness? No mucas from her nose or drainage from her eyes. There was some liquid that came from her crop , but it had some white poop in it so not sure what that was.

After researching on here, I found out she more then likely had egg peritonitis. The fluid with what I thought was poop was really the egg white stuff. I had just called the vet saying I was going to bring her in to be put to sleep, when I discovered to died. This part of owning any animal sucks!!!
