How many more days till they hatch?

My first broody hen hatched some great chicks. However! Looks like someone else laid two eggs to the clutch late which I didn’t notice.
I had to hastily move mom and hatchlings (when another chicken killed a baby 😿)
That’s when I noticed the two eggs-
Water tested they are alive, and made a peep hole to see if they were just stuck (had to help one of the other chicks).
my peep hole showed the chick isn’t done yet! I opened the shell in the air pocket, inner membrane is intact and I can see movement and fluid inside.
I rigged up an incubator with a heating of and wet towel, temp is close to 100

I overnight ordered a Nurtureview 360, which I thought would be better for temp and humidity to finish incubating. It just arrived and is broken! The plastic that hold screws for motor mount are broken. The plastic pieces and screws were in the bottom of the bator.
my Question- do I try and fix it so I can use it right this second to finish the hatch?
Or
Keep my makeshift thing because chances of live hatch is low?

i don’t know how far along the eggs are. I could see what I thought was yolk through the membrane, but also some lumps moving around too. the second egg is intact.

any suggestions?

thanks!!

Are you keeping the eggs warm? If you're not keeping the eggs up to temperature and humidity, it's a lost cause. I'd return the incubator and ask for a refund. On a first incubator, you want perfect. Once you know what you are doing, then try rigging one up. On most cases, once the hen leaves the eggs, I don't do further hatching. Lucky was lucky. When Lucy left the nest, he was finished off hatching some other way. I had a similar situation accure with a Buff Orpington named Joy. When I got to the nest, I candled all the eggs. All the eggs that showed soon to hatch chicks, I let her keep and finished hatching. All the eggs that was going to hatch sometime after, I removed so they wouldn't grow anymore just to be abanded and not able to hatch. I don't use incubators for a few reasons, with one, not very good experiences. If you are keeping the chicks at correct humidity- whether it's moving the eggs when the mother moves or other, I'd keep doing that until you can get a new incubator. If you are looking for an immediate help to save the chicks, gently place the eggs under your armpits. There's also other ways... Like maybe if you're following this thread: https://www.backyardchickens.com/threads/incubating-in-my-bra.1438211/#post-23820277.

Welcome to BYC! Can you post a pic of the NR? If your makeshift one (can you also post a pic of it too?) is holding steady, then leave them there while you try to fix the NR. They'll have to replace it for you, but you can try to use it still depending on how bad it is. It will hold humidity much better than your makeshift incubator probably.

Hi, thanks!
Yes, eggs are warm and still show signs of life.
temp is about 99 F, keeping a wet towel to help with humidity.
wish I knew how many more days they need!

there was just enough plastic for the screws to grab, so maybe it’s ok
and yeah, was thinking it might be better conditions

Pics will help if you can get some. I would opt to use the incubator, it provides a much more stable environment for the eggs.

i was able to put it back together! Plugged it in. How long till the plastic smell fades?
