7 week old Australorp pullet scalped by brooded mates. How can I fix her or is it too late.?

Oh poor baby! i have never had anything happen like this, but I would clean it maybe and spray antibacterial chicken spray... Then bandage it?

Definately keep it clean. I dont think it is too late for her. I believe she will heal with lots of tlc. Poor thing...

What kind of spray? I'm new too all this @thechxwhisperer. How do I clean it? What do I use for that?

She needs antibiotic ointment (no pain relief type) on all af the wound. Keep her away from the other chicks until she is completely healed.

If you have an antibacterial spray use it, just spray, if not spray, use Q-tips.

If you have weak betadine, chlorhexadrene or hydrogen peroxide, clean it once and then apply plain Neiosporin or Triple Antibiotic (or similar ointment) twice a day. Keep her separated in a cage for a few days within site of the other chicks. It should heal, and after a few days, stop the ointment, and apply some BluKote or iodine to let it start drying out. The scab will probably dry up and peel off, and then the new feathers will start groing in. At that point, she will be a target again for feather picking, and be sure and keep the BluKote or betadine on her head. Red brooder lamps can help to prevent pecking, but at this age they are establishing the pecking order.

Blu-kote is great! And I'd keep triple (no pain relief) antibiotic sab on it. I'm not sure if I'd bandage it because sometimes it sticks to the wound... If you do maybe put a little vaseline on the bandage. Hopes for a speedy recovery!
