Cardington, Oh
This is my first hatch and I've got one little baby who can't get off it's back...one leg is extended the other is curled up into it's body. The other chicks are pecking at it. It's breathing seems labored and I'm not sure what to do? Do I remove it, leave it and let nature take it's course??? I still have about 14 eggs that haven't hatched yet.

Any advise is appreciated!!!

Hmmm.... tough call. I would probably reach in really fast and flip it over. Or remove the rowdy dried chicks to the brooder, once again, really fast.

I would take it out if it is dry. I used a spray bottle and squirted a mist of warm water into the 'bator when I opened mine. It worked OK.

The baby might need a little more time. Maybe some water with sugar water in it. Good luck.

Use a straw, knitting needle to give it a nudge throught the vent hole first. If that doesn't work make a quick grab for it. Why do I think you already did that?

Bring the bator into a hot steamy bathroom so you don't mess up the temp/humidity for the chicks that are still trying to hatch and pull the rowdy chicks out. I'd pull the one that is having a hard time too if you have a seperate brooder space available for it, otherwise it's probably better off in the bator with the unhatched eggs. Good luck!
