EMERGENCY!! HAWK ATTACK!! **update pg. 3**

morning update:

My girl is up and eating and peeping!! She is still a bit slow and snuggly, but she is enjoying her yogurt and feed and walked around on me and even pecked at the buttons on my shirt and the keys on my laptop. These are all good signs in my book. She still doesn't seem much interested in water, which is strange, but maybe she's drinking when I'm not looking. I haven't seen her take a drink and when I dip her beak or give her drops from the dropped, she just jerks her head away and peeps indignantly. If nothing else, the yogurt has some water content.

Thanks to all for the support and I will keep you posted

p.s. again, she has no external wounds, miraculously. All of the blood came out of her mouth and that was it.

Yeah!! So glad to hear she is doing better! youve done a wonderful job with her! Hoping she will continue to improve and Im sure she will with you helping her along.

thanks, guys. I do think she's pretty myself, but I tend to be biased as only a proud mommy can be

She really is my snuggly girl and while I would be sad to lose any of my chickies, she has a special place in my heart and it would be really hard for me to lose her in particular. She makes happy little "peep peeps" every time I talk to her or walk into the coop (room now). Such a sweet girl. It will be so interesting to she how she turns out when she's all grown up!

I'll post an update in a bit... as long as she keeps improving, I'm going to have to think about how and when to reintroduce her to the coop... the longer she's away, the more I worry about their treating her like a stranger and picking on her when she returns. However, I don't want to put her back too early when she's too weak to defend herself. Any thoughts on that would be great!

Glad she rebounded! I had a weasel attack one of my hens. I thought something must be wrong when I could walk up and pick her up. Her head was covered in blood, seeping out eyes head and nose. She could not stand and kept passing out.

We just kept her warm and quiet and she 100% recovered. Tough birds!

another weasel literally scalped one of my indian runners. I came home to see her skull and her head swollen. She was fine too. Spent weeks keeping everything clean but she lost sight in one eye. THen they started figuring out how to get to teh road and either someone picked her up thinking she was just injured, or a predator finally got her.

They're pretty amazing with how fast they can recover!
