We loaned our incubator to some friends along with some eggs from our hens. They had a Sea Bright chick hatch a day late who had a heavy head, practically falling over, actually, she was falling, couldn't keep her head up. We took about 36 hours later because we knew we could give her better care. We started giving her Mash (chick feed mashed with water) with poly Sol vitamins 2 days after she was born. Within 12 hours we saw some improvement and within 24 hours she was starting to preen herself and walk around normal, flutter her wings, scratch herself and even saw her take a few drinks on her own. We kept feeding this mixture every hour or so and doing vitamin droppings on her beak 2 - 3 times a day. (during the night feedings went sometimes every 2 hours - had to rest some ourselves). After the third day her only issue was a somewhat wide stance. That we didn't wake up and she went 5 hours without us giving her the mash mix. At 5 am we went to check on her and she went completely the opposite way. Her head turned into Stargazer. I started her on Nutri drench immediately because of the selenium and the higher vitamin E content. She didn't improve she's slowly deteriorating more but she still eating. We have to almost snap her out of it and she will peck the mash mixture on her own. We got some vitamin E capsules and some selenium droplets mixed it into the mash and are giving it to her now. We started 6 hours ago. Does anyone think this will hel? Has anyone had this happened before? Could she have hurt herself during the night or could it have been the 5 hours without having anything to eat? Please help! Any advice or help and guidance is greatly appreciated. Thank you
