Your body temperature is 98.4, so it should feel a bit warmer to you. You can try getting the shell temp using the ear thermometer. It sounds as though you have it under control now. It is the waiting part that is the hard bit.

Okay, so I moved them into a smaller tub that I could halfway cover, lined it with a moist towel and moist paper towel, and also added a wet sponge. It seems so hot though, I'm scared I'm going to fry them! All I have are rectal or ear thermometers so I'm nervous that I'm not getting it right. They're just chirping away in there though.
too hot is worse than a little too cool. Do you have an outdoor thermometer?
They can do without water for 24 hours. Many people say 3 days but I don't like letting them go that long. That temp needs to be a bit cooler can you raise the light abit.
I think what was making it so hot was being outside. It's so hot and humid here already I thought that would help, but now I'm getting a steady reading of 98.6 since I brought them inside. Better for me anyways, I've been sweating like crazy from staring at them in our hot shed. Lol.
Of course now I'm back outside trying to catch one of our chickens who chose tonight to prove that she could get up on the roof. Fun.
Perfect. What a naughty girl. It's all happening at your place tonight. It's hot and humid here too.

We have two babies, both came from my only two blue eggs!
I'm worried about a couple of the other eggs though. The one that is open the most was the first to pip. She's not rotating at all, and I can see the clear membrane has pulled away from the egg and is stuck against her. She still chirps and thrashes around a lot, just not getting anywhere. I feel like the other one with the hole is similar, but I can't see as well.
