EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Your body temperature is 98.4, so it should feel a bit warmer to you. You can try getting the shell temp using the ear thermometer. It sounds as though you have it under control now. It is the waiting part that is the hard bit.

Okay, so I moved them into a smaller tub that I could halfway cover, lined it with a moist towel and moist paper towel, and also added a wet sponge. It seems so hot though, I'm scared I'm going to fry them! All I have are rectal or ear thermometers so I'm nervous that I'm not getting it right. They're just chirping away in there though.

too hot is worse than a little too cool. Do you have an outdoor thermometer?

No outdoor thermometer, but the rectal thermometer read 101.8 so I have taken them inside, set them up with another sponge, and now I'm waiting to get a steady reading. I can see three active little beaks though! Do I need to set a shallow water dish in there tonight just in case they hatch while I'm asleep? (Planning on staying up super late anyways.)

They can do without water for 24 hours. Many people say 3 days but I don't like letting them go that long. That temp needs to be a bit cooler can you raise the light abit.

I think what was making it so hot was being outside. It's so hot and humid here already I thought that would help, but now I'm getting a steady reading of 98.6 since I brought them inside. Better for me anyways, I've been sweating like crazy from staring at them in our hot shed. Lol.

Of course now I'm back outside trying to catch one of our chickens who chose tonight to prove that she could get up on the roof. Fun.

Perfect. What a naughty girl. It's all happening at your place tonight. It's hot and humid here too.

She's one of our new girls. When we decided to get chickens I did a bunch of research and decided I wanted buff orpingtons. Of course, when we were finally ready for them there were none available, and we ended up with quite a variety! I finally found two BOs and got them last week, and they have proven to be the most accident prone birds we have! And very flighty. If I can ever catch them, they're getting their wings clipped.

Thank you for your help and advice! I will keep everyone updated.

We have two babies, both came from my only two blue eggs!

I'm worried about a couple of the other eggs though. The one that is open the most was the first to pip. She's not rotating at all, and I can see the clear membrane has pulled away from the egg and is stuck against her. She still chirps and thrashes around a lot, just not getting anywhere. I feel like the other one with the hole is similar, but I can't see as well.

It sounds like you may need to assist. Did it pip into the aircell?
