EMERGENCY HELP PLEASE!!!

Well, the little chick passed. :(

I tried what I could, but she didn't respond to anything. Her eyes wouldn't track movements, wouldn't open her mouth, no movement apart from shallow breathing. I wrapper her in a washcloth and tucked her in my cleavage, thinking maybe it'd help if she heard my heartbeat. She passed after ten minutes or so.

The other chicks seem to be doing well, although I'm paranoid that they're going to do the same thing since she was fine a few hours before. Here's my current setup. Am I missing anything? Do they look comfortable, or too hot/cold? I didn't plan for this so I'm really scrambling to try to put something together.

They look great!

One thing you might do is put marbles in the water dish do the chicks don't drown. I like to put some electrolytes like Save-a-chick or Nutri-drench in the water for the first few days to give them a boost. I also start with a little bit of chick food in a big jar lid or a small paper plate at first, then put the feeder in once everyone is running around and eating & drinking.

Just suggestions - not absolutely necessary.

Congratulations on saving these guys!

Good ideas! I had marbles around here somewhere, and my husband cleaned the garage so naturally they disappeared. As soon as he's home we'll track them down!

Heading out to put a small tray of food out now, and then heading to the "what breed is this" board to see if I can find any chicks that look similar. Lol.

Sorry that you lost a chick, but if you hadn't done all that you did they probably would have all perished. You really did a great job, and should be very proud of yourself.

Thank you! :) They're so precious, I don't think I'll ever try another broody hen after this experience. I could just sit in the garage and watch them sleep all day.

Congrats on the chicks! So glad this had a happy ending. Sorry for the loss on the one chick. Unfortunately, it happens. Even with a good broody, I have never had 100% hatch rate. Have fun with the babies!

x2 on the advice @FridayYet gave you. I have lost a few chicks due to drowning. I feed my chicks a mixture of chick starter and finely crushed, peeled, boiled eggs for the 1st week. It is an old trick I learned from an old farmer

Thanks!

The rest of the chicks are doing great. They're all eating and drinking, and I found the marbles and put them in the waterer. I'll have to try giving them some scrambled eggs! They did catch a grasshopper earlier, it was super cute! There are two of them, an EE and a BCM, that run up excited when I open the door and try to hop on my hand, then they'll fall asleep in my lap. Sooooo precious! I hope they're all girls so I don't have to get rid of any! Lol.

I had a serama hatch out two nights ago, today is day 21 and I have another that is piped internally but it hasn't piped the out shell. The shell seems very hard I wanted to pip a small air hole don't know if I should or not. What would be the best way if I should

I am new to this wonder forum, and am in need of some help!!we have 13 eggs that are about 23 days now, i have one egg that started to chirp yesterday afternoon, it got louder and louder through the night and this am there was a beak poking through the pipping (?) hole! I left for a couple of hours and when I came home the fracture was much larger but there is no activity.. From what I've been reading, it sounds like -maybe- it's resting?! And how long before I help it along? Here's a pic to help you pros help me!
