Emergency Help Please!

I have 5 bitties with their mom loose in my flock of 40 birds. Haven't had any trouble so far, but I did replace all layer food with chick starter and am offering oyster shell freely for the other layers. Make sure they have plenty of access to clean water. I haven't had any trouble with any of the other birds and mommy takes great care of the bitties and shows them what they need to know. My rooster is an amazing roo though, I am lucky to have him.

I just wanted to say I too give the mommas the chick starter when they have little ones. It's safe for everyone and the medicated won't hurt the hens, you just are not supposed to eat the eggs if they are on medicated chick starter. A new mom isn't laying when she raises her chicks so there isn't any problem.

Panth, that's what I like to see. Mamma hens with their chicks. I Like looking out on my property and see a hen with a bunch of fuzzy little dots around her. Much better than an incubator and a brooder box. This is how I'm building my flock. I'd like to take a seat in that chair in the background and watch a spell.

I'm late for work almost every day because I get so caught up watching them
