Emergency help sick hen!!

I'm so sorry you lost her like that :hugs but she was very sick and she would have died soon regardless. Her belly was incredibly taut and swollen and I would guess that she is full of infected egg material called lash egg due to salpingitis (an infection of the oviduct) or internal laying or both. She will have been trying desperately both to poop and pass some of that lash egg material and the pressure of her straining to push it out has caused her to prolapse, which means the inner part of her body has been pushed out through her vent. The strain of it all has probably also put too much pressure on her heart and it has given out.
Sadly hens are very prone to these reproductive disorders due to the selective breeding that humans have subjected them to in order to increase egg production.

my rooster is having the same symptoms. started w poop on the butt, which i mostly got cleaned off... then he didn't want food, stayed away from the others. Well, no, it started when he was attacked by a predator, and i was cleaning his shoulder. poop after that. now he's wobbly & lethargic. I've put him in the coop for the night & he didn't react. i might be short a rooster in the morning. :( the comb/wattles turning blue happened today... he's been a little off for a few days, and i've kept an eye on him, as he's still been coming to me when i go out, but not today. I'm new chicken mom. my lil ones are 19 weeks old. this is the first issues of any level i've had. i appreciate Rebrascora's post & details. if he's still here manana, i'll do what you've suggested. crop is empty. He is a Buff Orpington. let me know any other suggestions.
