I need help! its my first time hatching chicks and they are 7 days old. I’m worried about one of my smallest chicks. My chicks have been using a heat pad and have dug a little ditch to stay warm but today I’ve noticed the little guy hasn’t been huddling with the rest she’s now huddled under a heatlamp but the squeaks she’s making don’t sound like the normal chirps she’s makes. Please help!!

Is it possible to get a recording of the chick and upload it to youtube or something similar?

Outside of that, might be worth it to give a quick visual inspection:
Do the eyes and nose look clear?
Is the vent clear?

Is this one eating, drinking and pooping?

Also, drop a thermometer in the little ditch they made - what's the temperature in there?

Interim suggestion - Pick her up and cuddle her in a towel or your hands. Sit somewhere quiet and relax for at least a half hour. Humans are the right temperature, so if she calms down you know she was too cold. This also gives you a chance to examine her for injury or illness as she shifts around without the big stress of a hurried inspection.
If it was just coldness, then make sure she's all warmed up before you put her back in a warmer brooder. You may also want to dip her beak in some water after she's warm to see she drinks. Post back with any other symptoms if you see some.

Please, please post some photos of your brooder setup. A couple with the lamp on and a couple with the lamp off.

You mention using a heating pad AND a lamp.
Just from looking at your avatar, if you have not adjusted the temps in your brooder, your chicks are too hot at 7 days old.

Please get a thermometer and take the temp under the lamp, at the sides of the container (tote?) and on the coolest side of the brooder and tell us what that is.

Chicks only need one warm spot. If they are inside a home, then very likely the heating pad should be sufficient.

Turn the lamp off and see if she stops peeping.

At risk of sounding heartless, action still needs to be taken here. We don't 100% know why this chick died, but we need to figure that out to save the others. The current strongest theory is that overheating is the issue.

Please post pictures of the brooder setup and any temperature details you can get about this setup.
