My favorite duck is hypothermic. I am warming her up slowly. Is there anything else I should do for her?

It's not winter here but she's an amputee and we put her in the trough for a swim and it is a cooler than usual day. I guess the water was too cold because she became listless and her core temp dropped drastically.

She does seem to be coming around slowly.

When I find one like that I heat towels in the dryer then wrap them in the warm towels and cover them with a sleeping bag. The sleeping bag helps the towels retain heat.

I have used a blow dryer on parrots. Gentle, low heat, keep your hand right there to feel if it is too hot. Put in a brooder box with a heat lamp like a little chick, after it is dry. ICU, just like young baby chicks. Put chick waterer with sugar water close by in a box big enough for the duck to move away from the heat when it is warm enough. Watch to be sure you do not over-heat! Good luck!

She pulled through, she's normal now and her temp is back up. Thank god. My poor girl has been through so much in her life.

She's in bed as usual now. Sleeps indoors with my 4 roosters so she will not catch a chill tonight (I also increased the heat for her to 74) and tomorrow I may keep her in for the day as well if it's a cool day again. She can't get to or into the water by herself (or out of it) this was 100% our fault for not thinking it could be too cold for her. But on a slightly windy, sunny, 65-70 degree day it just didn't occur to me that my duck might get hypothermia in the water.

Her normal days consist of hanging out by the chicken coops in her "spot" on a bed of straw with a bowl of food and water and watching the world go by. She can't walk by herself. She will scoot herself to me if she needs something or feels ignored. One time she got all the way to the back door. And she shouts. As loud as possible. So god forbid she needs anything the little goof lol. She gets to swim in the duck trough or in our bathtub inside. Swims fine even without her leg.

I couldn't imagine anything happening to her. I love her so much.
